Domestic Wastewater Treatment System Grants have been announced, subject to the following;

• Grants are available for the carrying out of remediation, repair or upgrading works to, or replacement of, a domestic waste water treatment system, where such remediation, repair, upgrading or replacement arises directly from an inspection and subsequent issue of an advisory notice under the Water Services (Amendment) Act 2012.
• The treatment system requiring remediation must have been registered by the owner of the premises connected to it by the prescribed date of 1 February 2013.

On the 1^st of July the Irish Times reported that Septic Tank Inspections are about to commence.

You will have to pay a fee of €20 if you request a re-inspection after receiving an Advisory Notice.

In a new build the householder has 90 days after connection of the system in which to register the system at a fee of €50. This does not apply to a previously registered system which has been replaced or upgraded.
